| Overview: | Airdrie Academy is a non-denominational secondary school in the North Airdrie area catering for girls and boys from 8 local primary schools. The school has a proud history and, in 1999, celebrated 150 years of excellent service to the community. The old school, spread between 4 separate buildings, was reaching the end of its serviceable life and development was necessary in order to keep the school up-to-date. The new school buildings adjacent to the existing school comprises of classrooms, a gym and assembly hall. Lightweight beam and column construction with lattice trusses over the assembly hall. Severfield-Reeve Structures Ltd was responsible for the fabrication of approximately 700 tonnes of structural steelwork for this development, which now has all teaching departments and administrative areas under one roof. Steelcraft Erection Services, the Group’s in-house construction company, was responsible for the on-site erection of the steelwork. |
