Overview: The Olympic Stadium will be the centre piece of the London 2012 Games. The stadium is located in Stratford, East London and will have a capacity for the Games of approximately 80,000, making it temporarily the third largest stadium in Britain. The Stadium will host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the Athletics and Paralympic Athletics events during the Games. It has been designed to be able to be scaled down after the Games to as little as 25,000 seats, when it will become a new home for athletics, combined with other sporting, community and educational uses. Watson Steel Structures utilised more than 10,000 tonnes of structural steelwork in the Stadium
