| Overview: | Located at the North end of the Olympic Park, the Basketball Arena has a capacity of 12,000 during the 2012 Olympic Games and 10,000 during the Paralympic Games and is the largest temporary Games venue ever. Watson Steel provided the connection design, fabrication and painting of the 1,000 tonnes of structural steelwork used for the structure. The Group’s in-house company Steelcraft were used for the erection of the steelwork. Once the 2012 Games have finished, the Basketball Arena will be taken down and some parts will be re-used/relocated elsewhere in the UK. |
